EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Cleveland Browns defensive back Joe Haden is active and excepted to start against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium despite missing Wednesday and Thursday’s practices and being limited Friday because of a hip pointer suffered in last week’s 38-31 loss to the Chicago Bears. 131222-joe-haden-ai

Haden ranks seventh on the team with 58 total tackles, including 53 solo stops, and is tied with free safety Tashaun Gipson for the team lead with four interceptions, one of which he returned for a 29-yard touchdown at the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 17.

While Haden is active for today’s game, the Browns have deactivated quarterback Alex Tanney, offensive linemen Martin Wallace, John Greco and Reid Fragel, as well as tight ends Jordan Cameron and Andre Smith.

Greco will miss his second straight start because of a knee injury suffered in a 27-26 loss at the New England Patriots on Dec. 8. Third-year interior lineman Jason Pinkston will start at left guard in Greco’s place.

The Browns will also be without wide receiver Davone Bess, whom they placed on the reserve/non-football illness list because of personal reasons. He is ineligible to play for the remainder of the season.

The Jets have deactivated quarterback David Garrard, cornerback Ellis Lankster, linebacker Jermaine Cunningham, guard Will Campbell, tackle Ben Ijalana, offensive lineman Oday Aboushi, as well as tight end Chris Pantale, and do not have a chance in their starting lineup.
