ARLINGTON, Texas — Cleveland Browns defensive back Buster Skrine is expected to make his third career start when the team plays the Dallas Cowboys at Cowboys Stadium this afternoon.
Skrine will start in place of Joe Haden, who is one of the Browns’ seven inactive players for today’s game. Haden suffered an oblique injury earlier in the week and was listed as “questionable” on Friday’s injury report after missing two days of practice.
Skrine has registered 48 total tackles, including 45 solo stops and eight passes defended in nine games this season.
In addition to Haden, the Browns have deactivated defensive backs Dimitri Patterson and Ray Ventrone, running back Brandon Jackson, fullback Owen Marecic, defensive lineman Ronnie Cameron and offensive lineman Jarrod Shaw.
Ventrone and Patterson were listed as “out” on Friday’s injury report. Ventrone is battling through hand and calf injuries, while Patterson is working his way back from an ankle injury suffered earlier in the year.
The Cowboys deactivated wide receiver Andre Holmes, cornerback Mike Jenkins, running back DeMarco Murray, offensive linemen David Arkin, Ryan Cook and Phil Costa, and defensive tackle Sean Lissemore for the game.
Mackenzy Bernadeau will start at center for Costa and Derrick Dockery will play at right guard for Bernadeau. Felix Jones will start at running back for Murray and Ernie Sims will play at weak side linebacker for Dan Connor, who is active for the game.
