Browns stop Gore short
Posted by on October 30, 2011 – 9:09 pmSAN FRANCISCO — The Browns defense stopped San Francisco running back Frank Gore short of the goal line on fourth-and-goal with 9:47 remaining in the first half of play from Candlestick Park.
Despite San Francisco’s challenge of the ruling, the play was upheld by an official review and the score remained 10-0 in favor of the 49ers.
The ten-play, 82-yard drive came up short after it was initially ruled that Gore had a seven-yard touchdown run up the middle. Gore — who would have registered his second score of the game and sixth of the season — would have given the 49ers a 17-0 over the Browns with 11:21 remaining in the second quarter.
Earlier in the drive, Gore had a 26-yard run behind the right side of his offensive line.
