Browns-Panthers Inactives
Posted by on November 28, 2010 – 4:46 pmQuarterback Jake Delhomme will get his first start in front of the home crowd at Cleveland Browns Stadium this afternoon and it will come against his old team, the Carolina Panthers.
Due to injury, Delhomme has only played in two games this year, including a start in the season-opening 17-14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has completed 33-of-60 attempts for 324 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions.
The Browns will play without quarterback Colt McCoy, who was injured in last week’s 24-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, defensive back Eric Wright, running back Thomas Clayton, defensive linemen Brian Sanford and Jayme Mitchell, tight end Alex Smith, wide receiver Demetrius Williams and linebacker Scott Fujita.
Despite missing all of practice this week, wide receiver/kick returner Joshua Cribbs is active for today’s game.
Rookie Joe Haden will start in Wright’s place at left cornerback, while David Bowens will fill in for Fujita at one of the outside linebacker positions.
Haden had three solo tackles, one interception and three pass break-ups in extended play last weekend when Wright left the game due to injury. Bowens has 11 total tackles in the last two games.
The Panthers will be without quarterback Brian St. Pierre, running back and Akron native Tyrell Sutton, safeties Marcus Hudson and Jordan Pugh, linebacker Abdul Hodge, defensive tackle Andre Neblett and guard Travelle Wharton.
Mackenzy Bemadeau will start at left guard in place of Wharton and Mike Goodson will go at running back for Jonathan Stewart. In the lone defensive change, Jason Williams will start at Will (weak-side) linebacker for Nic Harris.
Though listed as a wide receiver, Armanti Edwards will serve as the Panthers’ third quarterback this afternoon. He was a quarterback at Appalachian State University.
